Choosing the Perfect Floor Rug

Rugs Styles & Design

Rugs embrace diverse styles, including colourful patterned carpet rugs, furry textures, runner mats of all shapes and sizes, as well as many hard-wearing outdoor mats, where we help you find exactly what you need to elevate your home décor. Once you have found your ideal rug, you can pair it with any of our throws, homewares and kids’ decor to enhance the style and complete your overall effect.

Sizing it to the room

Once you've settled on a style, think about dimensions. Living and dining spaces typically suit a rug from 160x230cm up to 300x400cm, hallways and narrow spots call for a runner (commonly 60x130cm), and an entryway just needs a doormat. Whether you need a scatter of small bedroom rugs or one large piece for an entertaining area, it's about matching the size to the space rather than the other way around.

Rugs Material for Indoor & Outdoor Designs

Match the intended function of your floor mats and rugs with suitable materials to increase the longevity of your pieces. Some of the most popular materials for runner mats, rugs and more include:

• Wool: Highly durable and incredibly soft, excellent for living rooms and dining areas

• Cotton: Affordable and easy to clean, perfect for kitchens and children’s rooms

• Jute & Sisal: Strong, renewable alternative with chemical-free processing, great for high-traffic spots

• Polyester: Non-absorbent and fast drying, leaving them ideal for kitchen rugs

Each option offers a myriad of benefits you should consider before choosing a rug for your home's living room, kitchen, bedroom or doormat. Speak with our team for more information on each.

Best Rugs By Rooms

Best for living rooms

Wool rugs are soft underfoot and durable enough for daily use, and it's the natural choice for a space that draws the whole room's decor together.

Best for kitchens

Cotton or polyester rugs are easy to clean and quick-drying, which matters in a room where spills happen. A washable rug adds a slip-resistant surface underfoot too.

Best for high-traffic spots and entryways

Jute and sisal, or a hard-wearing doormat. Renewable, strong, and built to handle constant footfall without showing it.

Best for bedrooms

A rug or runner alongside the bed adds comfort and warmth underfoot, softening the first steps of the morning. With a range of colours, styles, shapes and sizes to choose from, you don't need to compromise on quality to match your bedroom decor.

Best for outdoors

Our outdoor mats and doormats add colour and texture to your entrance while standing up to the weather, and a doormat outside can help reduce slips too.

Rugs FAQs

Can I use an indoor rug outdoors?

Not our indoor wool, cotton or jute pieces, they're not built to handle the weather. For a deck, patio or entrance, choose from our dedicated outdoor mats and doormats, designed to add colour and texture while standing up to the elements.

What's the most durable rug material?

Wool is the most durable option in our range and holds up especially well in living rooms and dining areas that see daily use. Jute and sisal are also strong and renewable, and work well in high-traffic spots like hallways and entryways.

Are any of your rugs machine washable?

Select ranges are machine washable, check the individual product page for care instructions, since this varies by material. Cotton designs are generally the easiest to keep clean, while wool and jute pieces are usually better suited to vacuuming and spot cleaning.

Do I need a doormat as well as an indoor rug?

They serve different purposes. A doormat sits outside or at your entryway to catch dirt and moisture before it reaches your floors, while an indoor rug is about style and comfort underfoot. Many customers use both: a doormat at the door and a rug to finish the room inside.
